We have tried since 1996 to
integrate the finest genetics into our herd that we could find
within the industry. While not every breeding has returned
the expectation of the mating, we have made some very large leaps
and bounds in our programs.
Now that we have reduced our herd
to a hobby level, we will become even more conscious of the
quality that we expect each sire to contribute. Selecting
each sire based on his proven qualities makes it a little easier
to match the genetics within our herd.
The experience we have gained in the dairy
cattle industry plays a very large influence in the way we make
mating selections. The random matings based
on name is of little importance, what is important is the
matching of the family traits, and or the need to
make MINOR changes. Attempts to make
radical changes only leads to the distruction of the refined
genetic base.
Please enjoy our battery of
young sires. The selection of bucks we have used
in the matings to produce these youngsters is well
known in the goat world. We select
one young buck from each breed, each year , to use on our doe
kids. He is mated to approxamately 10 doelings and this gives
us a good sampling of his genetic value in body type traits.
He is held untill he is 2 yrs old . At that time we usually
have several fresh dtrs from him, and can do some kind of an evaluation on
his offspring udder traits.
Some are collected for future use, many are sold
as being less than top shelf.
We AI our
top does within each breed every year.
When it becomes apparent that AI is no longer returning better
kids than our home raised bucklings give , we will reduce the
use of AI and become a little more dependant on our own line bred genetic
base. We will use AI as an outcross selection process as needed.
We hope that someday the goat world will find
our contribution to be a viable source of genetics.
We currently have limited semen
for sale , as the bucks prove there genetic value we
either collect them or destroy them if they fail
to pass our strigent requirements.

| REBEL was purchased as an attempt to focus on the newbold
image. The shortage of newbold semen makes this a much
sought after buckling. Being a double bred newbold
we expect him to give us the production and style his grandsire is
so noted for. Many breedings and first kids will
be spring of 2003 |

| When we seen Teton on the South-Fork web
page it became a must to own some of his semen. He not only flaunted
his dams beauty, he appeared to match up with what we wanted in a sire
for our beautiful doe Topanga. This cross has yeilded beyond our greatest
expectations, depth, length, width, style, feet and legs, its all
there. pictured fall of 2002 |
